KORONADAL CITY, SOUTH COTABATO – The SOCCSKSARGEN Regional Geographic Information Network (SOXRGIN) forged a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between and among its members during the SOXRGIN Organizational Meeting cum MOA Signing on October 24, 2022 in Koronadal City, South Cotabato.
The MOA officially establishes a partnership with the 36 Network partners, the majority of whom are also the key members of Regional Development Council (RDC) XII to include local government units (LGUs), state universities and colleges (SUCs) and selected regional line agencies. The said organizational meeting likewise confirmed the membership of these LGUs, SUCs and RLAs in the network.
SOXRGIN is the Region’s network on the generation, processing, utilization, analysis, and sharing of spatial information and knowledge utilizing the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) as a tool in planning, investment programming, and project monitoring and evaluation. The Network was established by virtue of Regional Development Council (RDC) XII through Resolution No. 142, series of 2021, passed during its 75th Regular Meeting on December 7, 2021.
Led by the Vice-Chairperson of RDC XII and SOXRGIN ManCom Chairperson, RD Teresita Socorro C. Ramos, the members of the network, including the SOXRGIN TWG Chairperson, RD Sammy P. Malawan of DOST XII, RD Jennifer C. Bretaña of DHSUD XII, RD Basir M. Ibrahim of DPWH XII, RD Usop D. Pendaliday, Jr. of BFAR XII, ARD Alfredo B. Danuela, Jr. of TESDA XII, and Pres. Edward Lovell Brillantes of South Cotabato State College (SCSC) signed the MOA during the signing ceremony.
DOST XII shall serve as the Network’s Regional GIS Center and the regional repository and custodian of geographically referenced data and information. (Diana Grace R. Villegas, NEDA XII-FAD)
