Koronadal City, South Cotabato – Thirteen nominees were validated by the members of the Regional Search Committee (RSC) XII Technical Working Group (TWG) for this year’s Search for Outstanding Volunteers (SOV) from October 4 to October 21, 2022.

The nominees for this year 2022 came from different areas across the provinces representing various categories. There are nine nominees for individual category, three for organization/non-profit and one for special award for local government units.

Each nominee, whether individual or organization, showcased notable accomplishments and performance in empowering communities and in promoting volunteerism as their means of supporting and partnering with the government in pursuit of development. They pursued their unique brand of volunteerism, with intense passion to help and to serve through their banner programs, projects and activities.

The RSC XII TWG for SOV 2022 validation team who joined in the field visits is composed of Danstone Guy Dayaday of CHED XII, Travis Ryan of CSC XII, Kimberly Tuanzon of DILG XII, Evie Cabulanan of NEDA XII, Shahana Joy Duerme of PIA XII, Marie Chris Castino of TESDA, Maria Isabel Cunanan of DepEd XII and one Private Sector Representative of RDC XII, Mr. Jose Ronie Mondragon. Other members of the Secretariat, the Development Research Division, and the TWG Chairperson also joined in selected visits to the nominees.

Individual category-Youth:

Individual Category-Adult

  1. Norma Adamat – Purok Apple, Barangay Singao, Kidapawan City
  2. Lawrence Aduca – National Tacurong High School
  3. Michael Angelo Yambok – Lake Sebu, South Cotabato
  4. PLT Omar Cuizon Baret – Police Station I, General Santos City
  5. Stephen Henry Lee Chin – Cotabato City

Organization/Non-Profit

  1. Namnama Youth Volunteer Organization – Barangay Namnama, Koronadal City
  2. Conrado and Ladislawa Alcantara Foundation, Inc. – Alabel, Sarangani
  3. Kiamba Natives Organization Worldwide – Kiamba, Sarangani

Special Award for LGU

  1. Provincial Government of South Cotabato

The validation of nominees follow certain set of criteria used as basis in evaluating their exemplary accomplishments as volunteers. The regional winner by category will be endorsed to the National Search Committee of SOV 2022 of the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA).

The annual search for outstanding volunteers is the centerpiece activity of the National Volunteer Month celebrated every December by virtue of Presidential Decree No. 55, series of 1997. (Evie A Cabulanan, NEDA XII-DRD)
