KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato – The Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (RDRRMC)  XII  – Rehabilitation and Recovery Cluster (RRC) convened on April 18, 2022 to discuss the status of projects implemented in areas affected by the 2019 series of earthquakes in Cotabato Province.

The permanent housing units in Kidapawan and Magpet, reconstruction of Makilala Municipal Hall and public market, and water systems which were funded under the Comprehensive Aid for Repair of Earthquake Damages (CARED) and implemented by DPWH XII, NHA XII, DSWD XII, LGUs and Metro Kidapawan Water District were among the projects of concern. The National Government, through the NDRRM Fund allotted more than  PhP 1 Billion under CARED to ensure recovery of affected families and communities in the earthquake struck areas.

The meeting was presided by RRC XII Vice-Chairperson and NEDA XII Regional Director Teresita Socorro C. Ramos. A fruitful discussion took place leading to the passing of  three resolutions namely: Enjoining the LGUs to Integrate in their Respective CLUPs the Pre-determined Resettlement Sites; Enjoining the LGUs to Integrate  in their Respective CDPs, LDIPs, and AIPs the Budget Appropriation for Land Banking; and Requesting Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) Board of Trustees to Appoint a Special Disbursing Officer to Release the Remaining Funds for the Completion of the MKWD Project in Kidapawan City.

The meeting was conducted through blended mode at The Farm@Carpenter Hill, Koronadal City and via Zoom videoconference. The Committee’s core members (NEDA, OCD, DILG, DSWD, MGB, DPWH, NHA) attended the meeting in a face-to-face mode for the first time,  since the onset of COVID-19 pandemic while the guests signed in through Zoom.
