City of Koronadal, South Cotabato – The NEDA Regional Office XII announced to the public the 2017 Search for Outstanding Volunteers (SOV) in SOCCSKSARGEN Region. The announcement was made through a recorded interview of Ms. Evie Arabis-Cabulanan, Senior Economic Development Specialist of NEDA XII. The recorded interview was aired during the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) XII radio program, Performing and Informing at DXKI radio station anchored by Ms. Aida Agad on August 2, 2017 at 4:00-4:30 pm.
SOV is a yearly activity of the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA). NEDA XII heads the Regional Search Committee (RSC) in the region, with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Civil Service Commission (CSC), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), PIA, and Regional Development Council (RDC) XII Private Sector Representatives for Basic, Labor, and Social Sectors as members.
The Search aims to highlight the role of volunteerism in development and nation-building, specifically, the exemplary performance and dedication to service of Filipino volunteers in helping people and communities.
The SOV award is conferred to any individual or organization for outstanding volunteer service that has made a significant contribution to the upliftment of people’s life and communities that the individual or organization served.
The recognition ceremony will be held in Manila in December 2017 during the celebration of the National Volunteer Month. National awardees based outside Metro Manila shall be provided round-trip transportation and accommodation for their attendance.
