Thirty-one (31) employees of the NEDA Regional Office XII participated and successfully completed the ITAPS Seminar conducted by the Office of the Ombudsman (OMB)-Mindanao on 2 December 2014 at Fred Anns Food Hauz and Catering Services, Koronadal City.
The seminar was facilitated by the Finance and Administrative Division (FAD), in coordination with OMB-Mindanao, under the leadership of the Honorable Deputy Ombudsman for Mindanao Rodolfo M. Elman.
The seminar started with a simple opening program to welcome the participants and OMB-Mindanao visitors. In his welcome remarks, ARD Noel E. Quiratman emphasized that the seminar will provide the NRO XII personnel the opportunity to revisit the concepts and principles of integrity, transparency and accountability as public servants and promote practices towards “Tuwid na Daan”.
Topics presented in the seminar were Effective Client Public Service Delivery, Legal Framework of Accountability, Personal Integrity and Accountability, salient provisions of the Anti-Graft Laws (RA 3019), Overview of OMB Powers and Functions (RA 6770), and Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards of Government Officials and Employees (RA 6713). The resource persons of the ITAPS Seminar were Atty. Marilou B. Unabia, AGIO II Lea A. Lozada, GPCO III Villa D. Lim, and GPCO II Maria Fe P. Adegue.
Ms. Lozada, in her discussion, shared the following keys to customer-oriented service culture: set very high standards for yourselves; be obsessive about knowing what customers want; create and manage customer expectations; design business to maximize customer satisfaction; and, make customer satisfaction everybody’s business. She also mentioned the importance of “The Platinum Rule” in providing performing public service, that is, “Treat your customers as they wish to be treated”.
NRO XII personnel actively participated in the group workshops on integrity, transparency and accountability in public service, character study/personal commitment. The outputs consisted of a Personal Integrity Plan and web chart analysis of the underlying causes and consequences of a specific work issue that is vulnerable to corruption.
The closing ceremony of the ITAPS Seminar was highlighted with the staff recitation of their Personal Integrity Plan. NEDA XII awarded a plaque of appreciation to OMB-Mindanao and certificates of appreciation for the resource persons for the conduct of the seminar. GPCO III Villa D. Lim of OMB-Min gave the closing remarks. She thanked NEDA XII for accepting the invitation given the short notice and mentioned that the office is the first NRO in Mindanao which availed of the ITAPS Seminar. (LM Sajelan, FAD)
