117th-news photo-900Mayor Peter B. Miguel delivered his inspirational message to participants during the 117th Philippine Independence Day commemoration at Rizal Park, Koronadal City. Koronadal City, South Cotabato – “Dr. Jose P. Rizal, together with the thousands of known and unknown heroes were born and raised to fight for our freedom and that they were destined to set us free,” Mayor Peter B. Miguel said in his inspirational message during the 117th commemoration rites of Philippine Independence.

With the theme “Kalayaan 2015: Tagumpay sa Pagbabagong Nasimulan, Abot Kamay na ng Bayan,” the commemoration was done with the traditional wreath laying on the monument of Dr. Jose Rizal led by Mayor Miguel and participated in by private organizations, Sangguniang Bayan members, Barangay Officials and National Government Agencies in the region, including the National Economic and Development Authority Regional Office (NRO) XII.

He also shared to the parade participants and spectators his daily prayer for the Filipinos to remain with one heart and aspiration as one nation in terms of territorial and political dimensions. The Mayor proudly declared that Filipinos in this part of the country are living in unity despite diversity.

He further encouraged his constituents to show to the world that this is the best life to follow, to live harmoniously and united with respect for one another.

The Hinugyaw Dance Troupe of Koronadal City enlivened the celebration through an interpretative dance depicting the important historical events leading to the Philippine independence.

A kalayaan concert performed by the Department of Agriculture (DA) XII band capped the independence celebration. (GGBCollado and AYManlawe, NEDA 12-DRD)
