Koronadal City, South Cotabato – The NEDA Regional Office (NRO) XII has transferred to its new building at the Prime Regional Government Center, Carpenter Hill, Koronadal City, effective 4 January 2016. “ This is a dream come true for NRO XII,” according to RD Arturo G. Valero. He added that after the project’s inception five (5) years ago, NRO XII has finally established its own home in Koronadal City.
The three-floor NRO XII building occupies an office area of 1,824 square meters and is located in a 2,168 sq. m. lot that was donated by the City Government of Koronadal City. The total cost of the building amounted to PhP 40 million which was funded under the FY 2014 General Appropriations Act. The building construction commenced on 29 January 2015 and was completed within 315 calendar days. The project was undertaken by Gemma Construction, Incorporated, under the supervision of the South Cotabato First District Engineering Office (SC 1st DEO).
RD Valero shared that the coordination meetings with the SC 1st DEO and Gemma Construction, Inc. representatives helped fast-track the construction of the building. NRO XII created also its Project Monitoring Team primarily tasked to monitor and report on the progress of activities at the construction site.
The spacious office building, which features modern architectural design and amenities, is home to forty-four (44) NRO XII staff. The Finance and Administrative Division (FAD) and the Office of the COA Resident Auditor occupy the building’s first floor. The Office of the Regional Director and the Technical Divisions are located in the second floor. The NRO XII/RDC XII Conference Hall which will be located at the third floor of the building is targeted to be completed within 2016. A service elevator is installed in the building to cater to office clients, especially senior citizens and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).
RD Valero said that NRO XII requested the assistance of Secretary for Socio-Economic Planning and Director-General of NEDA Arsenio M. Balisacan to facilitate the release of the PhP 20M supplemental budget to support the completion of the construction requirements of the building.
