Koronadal City, South Cotabato – The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) XII supported the 2018 World Environment Day by participating in the Environment Walk conducted by the Environment and Management Bureau (EMB) XII on June 1, 2018.

The environment walk started from KCC Mall of Marbel and ended at the Rizal Park, Koronadal City.  It was participated in by different regional line agencies, academe, local government units, and private organizations.

The theme for this year’s celebration is “Beat Plastic Pollution.  If you can’t reuse it. Refuse it,” while the official hashtag for social media users is #BeatPlasticPollution.

The activity encourages everyone to come together and explore various alternatives to reduce the production and use of plastic products, and to segregate to help beat plastic pollutions.

Mr. Radsak B. Sinarimbo, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer of South Cotabato, reminded the participants that proper segregation of waste is needed to beat plastic pollution.

Engr. Efren B. Carido, OIC Regional Director of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) XII told everyone in attendance that pollution caused by plastic materials is everybody’s concern and we should support this program of the government.  (Apollo Y. Manlawe, NEDA XII-DRD)
