
Koronadal City, South Cotabato – NEDA XII Regional Director Teresita Socorro C. Ramos presented the region’s economic outlook during the Strategic Investment Priority Plan (SIPP) Domestic Roadshow organized by the Board of Investments on 01 September 2022 at the Venue 88 Event’s Place, General Santos city.
The positive and vibrant trends seen in the region were the improvement in consumer confidence, resumption of face-to-face classes, revitalization of the industry and services sector as well as the resilience of the agriculture sector. These trends shall pave the way for the region’s recovery from the pandemic. RD Ramos emphasized the significant role of the private sector and business communities in sustaining the region’s gradual recovery from the pandemic through the creation of more quality and green jobs.
The region’s long-term development vision was also presented as espoused in the Regional Spatial Development Framework (RSDF), 2015-2045 which is: “A peaceful, safe, resilient, and highly competitive SOCCSKSARGEN Region, the Agro-Industrial Center and Agri-Eco-Cultural-Tourism Hub in Southern Philippines”. RD Ramos highlighted coffee processing as among the emerging industry in the region as it is the top producer of coffee in the country.
The SIPP domestic roadshow provided a venue for the SOCCSKSARGEN Region business community to know about the recently approved SIPP which lists the economic activities eligible for incentives under the Corporate Recovery and Tax Incentives for Enterprises (CREATE) Act. (RASDedoroy, NEDA XII- PFPD)
