NEDA XII led by Regional Director Teresita Socorro C. Ramos, conducted a simple launching program on July 4, 2022 to kick-off the month-long activities where she underscored the importance of proper nutrition in our daily lives. During the launching, Ms. Annalita Mae V. Flores of the NNC XII shared key messages and the call for action for this year’s celebration. She shared how the pandemic affected the overall nutrition, and mentioned about the linkage between nutrition and resilience for a better new normal. The new normal opens opportunities to advocate nutrition under the new leadership following the recently concluded 2022 national and local elections, capitalize on the Full Devolution under Executive Order 138, and, the development of successor plan on nutrition at the local level through the local nutrition plans.

ARD Carmel P. Matabang cited the importance of fitness and exposure to sunlight (source of vitamin D), in the overall wellness. Nutrition quiz and a message from Ms. Ma. Lulu E. Valencia to eat a variety of nutritious food and to develop sound eating and physical activity habits capped the NEDA XII launching program.

This year’s theme calls for strengthened nutrition interventions and solidarity in improving nutrition status in the country as we shift towards the new normal of living with the COVID-19 virus. (Evie A Cabulanan, NEDA XII-DRD)
