General Santos City – National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) XII signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with General Santos City Local Government Unit (GSC LGU) to collaborate for the smooth and effective implementation of the formulation of Sustainable Urban Infrastructure Development Master Plan (SUID MP) Project.

The signing was done by NEDA XII Regional Director Teresita Socorro C. Ramos and General Santos City Mayor Ronnel C. Rivera on April 1, 2019 at Greenleaf Hotel, General Santos City.

The SUID MP shall guide decision-makers in the preparation and approval of plans, policies and programs/ activities/ projects (PAPs) for implementation in the urban center, and thus ultimately improve the competitiveness, security and resiliency from disaster, and general urban conditions of General Santos City.

As part of the MOU, a Project Implementation Committee (PIC) shall be organized to serve as the project’s senior level local counterpart for policy and direction setting and to facilitate inter-organization coordination.

PIC members shall include Regional Directors of DPWH, DENR, DOTr, DICT, DOE, DA, DTI, DOT, HLURB, and other local offices like General Santos City Water District, South Cotabato Electric Cooperative II, General Santos City Chamber of Commerce.

In this project, NEDA Central Office is the Executing Agency while NEDA XII is the Implementing Agency. The crafting of SUID MP was awarded to the group of consultants composed of Joint Venture of Orient Integrated Development Consultants, Inc. (OIDCI), Engineering and Development Corporation of the Philippines (EDCOP), Pacific Rim Innovation and Management Exponents, Inc. (PRIMEX), and CEST Incorporated (CEST). The formulation process shall be done in close coordination with NEDA XII and GSC LGU.

The project is funded through the General Appropriations Act for 2018 under the Project Development and Other Related Studies (PDRS) Fund administered by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA). (Apollo Y. Manlawe, NEDA XII-DRD)
