KORONADAL CITY, SOUTH COTABATO – On October 18, 2022, NEDA XII conducted a training on secretariat functions and responsibilities for Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) XII to enhance the latter’s capability in providing and carrying out technical and administrative support to their various committees and technical working groups.

The training was part of this year’s celebration of 33rd National Statistics Month (NSM). Participants from PSA SOCCSKSARGEN Regional Offices, provincial offices, and other national government agencies of the region joined the said activity.

The participants were provided with an Orientation on General Secretariat Roles and Responsibilities. The important role of committees and the secretariat in ensuring that all technical and administrative work are done at their best level were highlighted. The presentation was followed by the lectures on the things to do during the conference/meeting day and the use of the digital documentation, tools and platform.

NEDA XII- Policy Formulation and Planning Division Chief Economic Development Specialist Mr. Romel Patrick E. Tanghal, together with Ms. Kate D. Espero and Mr. Jose Anthony Laurent P. Octavio, Economic Development Specialist I and II respectively, provided resource person services and facilitated the coordination of the training with PSA XII.

“Secretariat role involves fairly general yet with high responsibilities”, emphasized by PSA XII Regional Director Atty. Maqtahar L. Manulon during his opening message. He reminded the participants that in order to continuously provide quality government service, there is a need to level up competency and performance, especially in the performance of secretariat functions. Moreover, RD Manulon underscored that the reports should be complete, clear, and organized to supply accurate and understandable information to the stakeholders.

NEDA XII, being the lead secretariat of RDC XII, will continue to provide technical assistance and capability building activities to its members to promote efficient and effective delivery of public service towards the sustainable and inclusive development of the SOCCSKSARGEN Region.
