
Koronadal City, South Cotabato – The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) XII launched its annual celebration of the National Women’s Month (NWM) on March 8, 2022 with the sub-theme “Agenda ng Kababaihan, Tungo sa Kaunlaran, capping the recurring theme, “We Make CHANGE Work for Women”.
The highlight of the program was the in-house sharing of NEDA XII Staff on the topic “Introduction to GAD Concepts and SOGIESC” by Ms. Regie Lou R. Rivera, Supervising Administrative Officer, Ms. Janlyn H. Sanchez, Administrative Officer IV-HRMS, and Ms. Melissa Gabrielle H. Vargas, Senior Economic Development Specialist-DRD.

Regional Director Teresita Socorro C. Ramos, in her opening speech, remembered her mother and shared that she is grateful for the principles she got from her that influenced her disposition even up to this day.
ARD Carmel P. Matabang also shared on her message how gender-equality is prominent already in the society, citing Cordillera culture where women are working as peacekeepers during the night as an example. She also underscored the importance of household chores to be taught to children, especially to men, in light of the theme.
As part of the agency’s endeavor to support and commemorate the NWM, the office has lined up other activities like a Gift Giving Activity for orphaned children on March 21, 2022 in observance of the Girl-Child Week, NWM trivia games, and a Culmination Program on March 31, 2022, which would include a Music-video presentation by division using Musika Juana Songwriting entries, Division Trade Fair and Exhibit, and a Zumba and Yoga session.
NEDA XII remains committed to mainstream Gender and Development concerns in all of its programs and activities. These lined-up events aim to provide a way for the NRO XII personnel to stay committed in doing actions that help promote a more gender-responsive workplace environment.
