City of Koronadal, South Cotabato – Volunteers are the unsung and unnamed heroes who build and empower the nation. Their compassion and selfless service to the underprivileged communities ignite hope and serve as indispensable tools in our journey towards progress and sustainability.

Presidential Proclamation No. 55, Series of 1998 mandates the celebration of National Volunteer Month (NVM) in December of every year. The Search for Outstanding Volunteer (SOV) has been institutionalized to highlight the exemplary performance and dedication to service of Filipino volunteers.

The Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) coordinates the advocacy and coordination at the national level, while, the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) acts as Chair of the SOV Regional Search Committee (RSC) in the region.

The 2017 SOV is open to individuals of Filipino citizenship, and Filipino or local chapters of foreign/international non-profit or corporate organizations. Qualifications for nominees are: individual youth category, must be fifteen (15) to thirty (30) years old; while for adult category, at least thirty-one (31) years old. For non-profit organizations, they should have at least five years of consistent volunteer assistance, while for corporate organizations, the required volunteer assistance period should not be less than three (3) years. The deadline for submission of nominations for Region XII is on July 15, 2017. All entries received shall be evaluated by the SOV-RSC Technical Working Group and the same shall be validated through the conduct of field visits. Regional qualified nominees shall be submitted to PNVSCA for deliberation to determine the recipients of the 2017 National Outstanding Volunteer Award (NOVA), the Volunteer Lifetime Achievement Award (VLAA), and the Special Citation in Volunteerism.
