General Santos City – During the recently concluded 2019 Awards Ceremony and Appreciation Lunch for the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Stakeholders held at the Vancouver Room of Sydney Hotel in General Santos City, NEDA XII was recognized and declared winner in the category for Outstanding Partner for Report on Regional Economic Developments in the Philippines (REDP) for Region XII. It was the first time for NEDA XII to receive such award from BSP.

The recognition is given to an institution or agency that consistently provided valuable information to the BSP necessary in the annual publication of the REDP report. The judging of the winner was based on the a 4-point criteria as follows: a) track record of cooperation (25 pts.); b) relevance (25 pts.); c) completeness (25 pts) ; and d) timeliness (25 pts.).

Other categories included in the annual awards were: a) Information Support: Business Expectations Survey; b) Advocacy Support: LGU Coordination-Kapit-Bisig Award; c) Advocacy Support: Outstanding Regional Partner for Currency Programs of the BSP; d) Advocacy Support: Outstanding Regional Partner for Implementing BSP’s Advocacy on the Conduct of the Public Information Campaigns; e) Advocacy Support: Outstanding Regional Partner for Knowledge Resource Network. The awardees in the different categories were given the Dynamic Balance, Philippine Eagle Award which was designed by Ferdinand Cacnio.

In his keynote address during the awarding ceremony, Monetary Board Member V. Bruce Tolentino stated that BSP’s close partnership with its stakeholders has provided resiliency and support for growth throughout the years. He added that the BSP together with the private and public sector stakeholders reflected the “One Team, One Goal” theme of resilient partnership towards inclusive economic growth. 

Throughout his message, Monetary Board Member Tolentino expressed the profound gratitude of the BSP family to the people, respondents, entities, institutions and organizations that participated and contributed to the information gathering activities, which are critical in the crafting of fiscal and monetary policies in the country.
